Prior to implementing SNA Server and Farabi’s HostFront, Buti experimented with other Web-to-host technologies, however, after months of frustration and countless work efforts of the MIS staff, they still could not establish a reliable connection to their AS/400 host. “We tried other solutions and they did not work for us,” stated Buti. “There were many problems, such as not being able to map a keyboard correctly onscreen. HostFront, however maps the keyboard perfectly, so it’s very user-friendly,” marvels Buti. ” National Van Lines did not want to use a 5250-to-HTML conversion solution because it caused many configuration issues. Says Buti of SNA Server, “It has been extremely reliable. In fact the only time our system has been down was because the AS/400 caused a connection termination.”

National Van Lines also uses SNA Server to allow employees to connect to the network from home to update records or leave messages for drivers who are on the road. “SNA Server works perfectly for our needs,” says Buti, “we use Microsoft technologies wherever we can.”
